Howdy doody,

Well what´s new? mmm well arrived here in Villcababma (not as I found out a song by Los Lobos), but a pueblo called the ´sacred valley´(an Inca name), people live to over 100 here – something to do with the water or most probably the lack of a Mc Donalds.

Its picture postcard stuff, the town is surrounded by mountains over 4000m did a hike yesterday up one tho it was only a 700m ascent which counts as a stroll rather than a hike round here, the 36o degree views were amazing.

I am staying at a great little place, food, room, pool etc great, hummingbirds flitting around and other birds equally beautiful, also a bird that makes a call similar to a wet fart yet to see what it looks like a it keeps itself hidden. Had a look in the bird identifiation book for the ´bottom burp bird´ yet it wasnt in there under the letter ´B´.

Phew i can breathe again, some smelly hippy traveller has just left who was sitting at the pc next to me armpits on display – i think he has pit rot didn´t want to say anything to him though it may have helped..

Anyhow, also done a heap of running here, great tracks into the hills, altitude here is 1500m so it is ok. toe on the mend.

On Tuesday I am up into the mountains for a horse trek with this New Zealand guy called Gavin. He is insane. I think I am the only one going up with him so I may also have gone bonkers by the time I get back. I hope his horses arent so bonkers – will update you of the trek on Friday/Sat. I am trying not to think about the film ´humpback mountain´ or whatever it was called.

Will leave here on Friday to go to Peru, I am taking the rarely used mountain route to the Cordilleras Blancas, another mountain idyll, lots more walking, climbing etc..

Luckily I arrived here on fiesta week, tonight is the final judging of the Queen of Vilcabamba, from what I have seen so far I don´t think any of the contestants will be making it as far as Miss Ecuador if you get my drift..there are parties going on which is fine by me.

This place is definately worth a visit..
