Hi Britainland, hope you are all good,
I went out last nigh to a club here (Montanita – surf capital of Ecuador) and it was very od , great music, very cheap booze, a fire in the dance floor (luckily it was open air) and a whole load of dogs and cats that would just walk in sit down, listen to the deafening music, nod their heads , get up on the dancefloor, maybe bark (incl. the cats), maybe just wander around then they would then walk out. It took me a while to work out what was going on an no I hadn´t partaken in the local herbal medicines that were being passed around..
Anyhow enough babble. After getting bored at staring at boobies at Puetto Lopez I headed down the coast, via some amazing beaches and coves with almost absolutely no other people there (to bored of the boobies to even mention them here).
Now at Montinita population (less than 1,000) which for some people it may sound like hell, shedloads of surfers, and everytyhing that goes with them including battalions of fire eaters, jugglers and rasta wannabees -but the ladies my word – worth putting up with all the rest..
I have really warmed to it, it is really laid back, there are people from all over the world (though haven´t yet met a Buhtannese), great surf, great bars and clubs and anything seems to go – it is a bit like Ibiza but the cocktails are a 20th the price and there are no villains.
I got here yesterday and today had a couple of hours private tuition surfing. Managed to ride a decent sized wave all the way to shore on the 2nd attempt and seem to have the knack now, will have a few more hours tuition and then enter as the Welsh contender in the international championships they are holding here next month.
I am staying here for 4 more nights though I only got a couple of hours sleep last night so will be happy to get away from the headonism.
