Clever me I have now swapped autoimatically from speaking pidgeon francais to turkey Spanish!

I am now in Cartagena after spending a glorious evening in the Caribbean equivalent of Port Talbot (Point e Pitre ((Guadalouse). Next morning the cruise Ship the Allicante Carrier (on board containers, 37 slavs, 4 German tourists that thought they had booked on a barge cruise on the Rhine rather than a 36 day ordeal on board a ship that feeds you Eastern European cuisine – ´radish salad anyone´ ´more borsh´ ´mmm tinned cake´. Luckily I did my 12 days.

Arrived in Martinique — I would recommends Steve that you take Melissa there for a second honeymoon though do take a brolly ´il pleu beucoups fish avec le chats et le cheins´ yes it reminded me of the UK ,wet but very hot – weirdly people ignored it and walked around as if it was normal to be soaked to the skin. I spent the day in a bar..

Well now in Colombia, Cartagena, another country of the world where it now has in my diary ´beware of local taxi drivers they also here will at any attempt rip you off´. I could have bought a local house for what it cost me to get to my hotel…..

Anyhow Steve (and anyone else who maybe board enough with my ramblings) this is a fine place, its like some classical European city – but with no tourists, fantastically hot and humid, nice people (except Alevar the cab driver… gggrr) and it is also dry land ‘- no big storms or dodgy boiled food stuffs to content with – there are also women which helps keep the boredom at bay.

Have met uup with a couple of friends of a cuban friend and they are showwing me the sights (no giggling at the back).

I will stay here for a few more days then either head to the ´cuidad perdido´aka ´´the lost city´´ (twinned with Stoke on Trent) it takes 4 days of hiking to reach it – so maybe instead I may stay on the beach…

Si.

PS Cartagena in spell check brings up ´cottaging´Andy will be proud

got 2 minutes b4 get chucked out of interweb cafe. had good crossing boat full of former Soviets so food ‘gulag’ style and humour basic, glad é see they are all pissed on vodka 24/7 Survived a force 7 storm, good fun and no hossing overboard. Booze very cheap on board though very dangerous to get too blotto as there are lots of dangerous bits of machinery whizzing round and big holes and the ocean to carelessly fall into.

Tomorrow morning arrive in Martinique so possibly hit the beach or maybe look at the big engine again on the boat. So far seen whales, all sorts of odd birds and I am sure the Azirbyjani cook has served the, up for so called ‘dinner’.

Guadeloupe - well the main town is a dump so dont come here for a special occaision.

Now being ejected so a bien tot mon petit grenoilles;

Simon

PS it is bloody hot here! anyone got any ideas of hot to treat ‘jock itch’?
